two year probation period - unmarried partner

Post by Jhulley » Sat Jan 21, 2012 12:54 pm

I am coming to the end of my 2 year probation period as an unmarried partner.

My partner and I do not want to stay here long term, so I do not need indefinited leave to remain, but am looking to get further leave to remain for a year or two more.

Is this even possible? I have read around the official page and tried contacting the immigration offices but can never get through to anyone.

Basically I don't want to have to do the whole ILR, life in the uk test and all that if I don't need ILR. We will be leaving most likely in the next year to two but my initial visa will expire in that time.

Is a short extension possible or up to a year?

Thanks in advance!

Do you know how to go about doing this? You don't have to explain the whole thing, maybe just point me in the right direction on the website or something.

I keep searching the official page but I always come back to "you apply for ILR when your 2 year probationary period expires"

Would I just fill out a form for FLR then?

Thanks in advance,

Jenn

Open up the FLR(M) form and read question 4.1
