Proof of intention to marry

Post by LowViz » Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:21 pm

Hi, as part my partner's UK fiancé visa application, we have to 'show marriage is not an unreasonable next step'. Scanning forums I see that some people have managed to book venues/ceremonies without their partners being in the country. Others have submitted e-mails from register offices stating they are not able to arrange anything without both parties present.
Today I contacted a register office who confirmed they cannot arrange anything without my partner being in the UK for at least 7 full days. I asked for this in writing, thinking we could submit it as part of our supporting documents to show we have expressed interested in booking a wedding. The lady told me they have a template e-mail for this exact situation but she thinks it has been deleted from the system and she is 'not allowed' to write another one.
Any ideas on other ways we can show we will marry within 6 months?
Thank You.

Refer to the the advice you got from the register office in your sponsorship letter. The Case Worker should know the position anyway (i.e. that you cannot give notice ot marry until you are both in the country).

Also state in your sponsorship letter how and when you met; when you decided to get married; why; who proposed to whom etc.

Do you have any letters or emails mentioning your decision to marry? (e.g. that you can't wait to get married; are really looking forward to it; who you are going to invite to the wedding etc.)

If you are planning any other celebration apart from the ceremony, you could submit things like written quotes or receipts you have obtained for restaurants/caterers, dress/car hire, hotels, entertainment etc.
