ILR is due but my wife's new passport may be issued late

Post by alish » Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:22 pm

Hi everybody,

I am Iranian and I am on Tier-1 visa which expires on 12/05/2012. I am going to apply for ILR between 07/05/2012-12/05/2012. My wife’s passport expired and because Iran embassy in the UK is closed we sent her passport to Iran embassy in Ireland-Dublin by post for renewal in January 2012.

After 1.5 month I called the embassy and asked when her passport would be ready and the guy said there was a long queue and it might take couple of months for her passport to be issued.

Now my question is:

If my wife’s passport is not ready by the time we are going to apply for ILR and considering that our current leave under Tier-1 expires on 12/05/2012 what can she do to buy time and stay lawfully in the UK untill her passport is issued.

Thanks
