Accommodation proof for general Visitor

Post by vsimha » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:27 pm

I am a Tier 1 Visa holder and my parents wish to join me for about a month. My father is an employee himself and does not need to show my income or sponsorship. But for accommodation proof, can he show my tenancy agreement? If yes, does he need to produce a No Objection certificate from me saying I am willing to let my parents stay here for a month?

Please suggest.

regards,
Vikram

The need to show suitable accommodation when visiting seems to be applied in an arbitrary fashion where there is doubt about overcrowding or other issues. The vast majority of people who have obvious means of self-support and apply in advance for visit visas do not show any evidence of this requirement and their visas are approved, but it is specified in the rules so can be used as a basis for refusal. This seems to be limited to visa nationals as people who are granted entry clearance on arrival are generally not pestered for actual evidence when they declare they will be staying with friends or family. To be safe, you can send him a letter inviting him to stay in your house with a copy of the tenancy agreement.
