Employer Letter is it important?

Post by raholptl » Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:58 pm

Hi Guys,
I just wnat to know when applying for Tier 1 General Extension some people have provided employer letters is it somthing optional?

Has anyone got thier visa approved without employer letter?

if we have full 12 months payslips and bank account transactions then I think it is not required. also gudance notes does not say anything about this.

Guys what are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance
Rahol

The guidance notes give an example of the combination of documents required:

"A salaried employee could provide a
combination of:
• personal bank statements covering the full
12-month earnings period;
and either:
• payslips for the full 12-month earnings
period; or
• a letter from their employer."

Payslips and employer's letter are considered evidence from the same source - your employer, so it's not necessary to submit both. You can just choose which of the two would be more convenient for you. Having said that, if there's anything unusual or that requires explanation in your payslip/earnings, perhaps it might be a good idea to ask your employer to explain it in a letter.

In my extension I intend to submit an employer's letter, but in my first Tier-1 application three years ago, I only submitted payslips and it was fine.
