RMLT - Job Title Used Not in Code of Practice (URGENT)

Post by jcatch12 » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:55 pm

Hi All,

Your help would be much appreciated.

My employer (A-rated licence holder) is looking to sponsor me on a Tier 2 (General) visa. They have conducted the RMLT and, after interviewing several people, including myself, have offered me the position.

Unfortunately, they have now realised that the job title they used for the RMLT job adverts is not listed under the relevant Code of Practice. Would it therefore be advisable to select the most appropriate job title from the list when applying for the Certificate of Sponsorship, even though it will not match the job title listed on the adverts for the RMLT? And should my employer state the reasons for this - the job title used in the adverts was the industry standard - on the CoS application?

I understand from reading posts on this forum that there is almost no chance of obtaining a CoS using a job title not listed in the Code of Practice. My employer cannot afford to conduct the RMLT process again, so they are a bit stuck.

Please advise!

Many thanks in advance.

Job description and Job SOC code is the most important bit rather than Job Title. With your employer once you have narrowed down to your preferred/closely related job SOC code and you satisfy all condition, you can put that SOC code and job title in your cos.
However, your sponsor should mention on COS in "sponsor's note" that job description matches with your current duties, but job title doesn’t. So we/employer will officially use xyz job title instead. (this is based on response I got on my query from one of the member)
Thanks!
