Help needed with marriage visa

Post by NMck » Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:21 pm

I have a few questions, I was hoping someone could help me with.

I intend to marry my girlfriend this year in New York. I am a British Citizen and she is from Venezuela. We want to live in the uk after we get married. Here are my questions:

Can she return to the uk with me after we get married and stay with me?
Will she be able to work immediately after the visa comes through?
How long, usually, do the visas take to process?

I have searched the Internet but it all seems very confusing, so I was hoping someone with experience could answer my questions.

Many thanks for your help.

She will need to get the spouse visa first before she can come to UK

Will she be able to work immediately after the visa comes through?

Yes she can if she comes on a spouse visa

How long, usually, do the visas take to process?

Can vary from country to country. Can take from 4 weeks to 12 weeks

The above link may provide a bit of information for you, however this is for a fiancé visa, similar procedure for spouse , but may differ slightly
