UK Family visit finance advice?

Post by DemiGod » Tue Feb 28, 2012 9:24 pm

Hello I am pleased I found this forum and hope some of you may be able to answer one of my questions. To explain, I have one question about showing finance.

I am the sponsor and I am sponsoring my niece who is currently in a foreign country. My nieces visit is for a total of 3 weeks maximum to visit my family and myself. I am currently a UK citizen and have been since 1980.

I have stated I will purchase a return ticket for her and pay for her visit. I have also stated she will stay at our family home.

I have demonstrated all of the following finance but am unable to demonstrate payslips as I have lost my payslips. To explain my financial situation:

Job:
•I currently earn £300 a week salary and have demonstrated by getting my employer to produce a letter stating how much my earnings. He has signed it to confirm has also used his business stamp as further confirmation.

House
•I have produced by my solicitor an official document that states that I own a 4 bedroom detached house that has no mortgage or loan of any kind and was paid with cash to the amount of £180k during purchase.

Bank statement
•I have furthermore produced a bank statement that shows £2000 in my account which will be used for my nieces visit. (BUT this £2000 will only be in the account for a total of 25 days when I go for my next hearing as it was adjourned to allow extra time to gather information kindly by the judge. Please also note: It will further expand to around £2500 by the time we see the judge again)

Is this information satisfactory for showing evidence of my nieces visit financially?

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!

That should be sufficient for a visit for 3 weeks.

It would be advisable to address the reasons why she will return home after visit, as this is one of the most common reasons for refusal.

hey i was wondering do you have any advice on how to effectively address that issue of why she will return home? She is a student of law and we have provided a letter saying she is one too.

Include letter from her place of study giving details of her course, when she is expected back, etc.

I have tried to do this but have had little success.

I showed that she is attending univeristy and that she is studying law but because the country is 3rd world they cannot produce information of her expected return date as they have previously stated to her that "an indiviual attending our univeristy may run out of funding and stop attending our uni"

Sounds stupid does it not?

They were being very negative!

If she had paid her fees in advance, then they could state that.

Is there no fixed holidays and opening term dates on which they expect their students to return by?

That's what I thought but they will not date it stating what date she has paid up to or finished. I have already produced a letter from her university stating she is studying a bsc in law to the assesor but it did not state the date even though we asked for it repeatly.they told us they cannot do that as she may leave or ask for her money back as some students do due to financeal difucility. It has now gotten to the stage of tribual and I really don't know what else to do. They refuse to give her a letter :s

Okay I have now managed to obtain a letter from her uni that states her name, teachers name, unis name, subjects of study, course she is on, exam dates and it has been signed and stamped by the univeristy. it is also translated. will this be acceptable?

Thanks, DemiGod

i think i would look to also include the letters that passed between you/your neice and the uni, which would show that you/she have attempted to gain solid evidence that they expect her to return, try in her letter of support for her application she can state her return intentions, she is so far trough her studies that not returning would do her no favours for her future huh?

as for your payslips ~ do you have your P60? and last years? especially if its the same company ~ and highlight your salary going into your account on your bank statements....

and think of a good excuse as to how you have "misplaced" your payslips lol

also, for showing "intent to return" any commitments that your niece has will help ~ appointments etc as it is unlikely that she owns property where she is?

don't actually buy the ticket until shes got the visa, and use a travel agent, go and get a quote for the return ticket on their headed notepaper, stamped with the date, it looks a lot better than a print off from the internet, it shows "effort" and would be good if she could get it from the country she is in actually

just a heads up there

The problem I have is I work for a catering business and I get paid by cash. I have not kept my P60 as well. I do not really keep my payslips and I have read on numerous sites its not compsularory to do so.

I have had a letter produced by my boss stating I am paid in cash and explaining everything. I have worked for him since 2007.

As for intent to return, the exam dates for the semester is up to the end of june and she has been studying law for over 3 years now. this should effectively demonstrate that it would be a waste to throw it all away should it not?

The problem is I have the letter in farsi and the iran offical translator has now rejected translating it. I think its due to the problems between uk, america and iran and the saunctions. Would it be suitable for me to get it translated here in england?

As for your idea to go to a travel agent and get ticket information and not purchasing the ticket before hand, I agree but there is a problem with that... the problem is with the embasy being shut down in iran there is no way to get visa from there... therefore a visa must be produced in a neighbouring country such as turkey or dubai.

Thanks for your help. :)

Thanks, DemiGod.
