Expired Visa - 2years - Needs to leave UK

Post by sanjayrocks » Sat Mar 03, 2012 1:13 pm

Hi,

This is question is on behalf of a person I know. He is 65 years old.

(His grandfather is irish but i dont know why he didnt apply for an ancestry visa.)

His family here(All uk citizens) got him here under a short family visa about 6 years ago. But they never renewed his visa and he is still in this country.

But now he want to go back to his own country never to come here.

Will he get any trouble leaving Heathrow airport as his visa expired long time back or any trouble at his destination. He will not be coming to UK again and just want to find out whether there will be any questioning at Heathrow airport?

Cheers

The worst that can happen is that, if he is stopped by Border Force agents, he will be issued with an IS151 (statutory notice of impending removal) and be sent on his way to the departure gate. Given that he will be leaving there ant then, I can't see much else being done about his situation.
