Unmarried UK citizen and US citizen with a US born daughter

Post by mommy2sophia » Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:27 pm

My boyfriend is a UK citizen and I am a US citizen. We have a 10 month old daughter who was born in the US. We are currently living in our home countries and visiting but would like to live together in the UK. I am wondering what options we have seeing as we have a daughter together. We are not ready to get married just yet (maybe in a year or so). Is there a temporary Visa I can get? Any info is much appreciated!

You may apply for an unmarried partners visa, subject to MAA.

However, note that there may be significant changes soon.

Have the two of you lived together? If so for how long? For how long have you been in a relationship?

Have you actually lived together for extended periods previously? Do you have a paper-trail of bills and/or letters that cite a common address? The 2 year cohabitation requirements is applied fairly tightly.

'Living together', should be applied fairly tightly, with a couple providing evidence that they have been living together in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership which has subsisted for two years or more
