Kindly help me with my doubt.
I have my Tier-1 visa expiring in Aug. 2012 (due for 1st extension) and i am planning to invite my parents to visit me in June 2012. Now if they apply for their Family visitor visa on back of my Tier-1 visa status as a sponsor then will they be awarded visa for 6 months irrespective of my visa expiry or only until my visa expiry (Aug. 2012)?
And as my father is a Govt. official retiring this month March 2012 - so what will be best bet to show financial back-up for expenses during the visit from the following:
1. My father can show his bank statement with Retirement money (quite a decent figure) & Pension from the following month, OR
2. I can also become a financial sponsor for all their expenses.
Sorry for any confusion above.
Thanks in advance.
Hi hm7,
I am in a similar situation with my visa till July end so have decided to get it extended before they apply for their visa. There is no written rule that the duration of their visa has any dependency on my visa duration or not. So I thought better not to take a chance.
However, do bear in mind that when you get your visa renewed, it will be valid from the day it is issued and not from the day after your current leave expires. That might affect your chances of getting a PR if your renewed visa would run out before you complete 5 years in UK. If that is the case, then you should definitely not apply for an early extension if you are planning to get a PR.
As for your other query, since your father retires in March, ukba would need to be convinced that he plans to leave the Uk and the best way to convince them is to show property documents, if they have, as that is considered the next best reason after job, to leave UK and return to India.
On a separate note, it would be a good idea to show decent financial backing of his and yours. Just to convince them that money is not a problem for either of you.
I know I sound quite paranoid but when so little is known about these things, then i feel its better to be safe than sorry.
