Successful Fiance Visa application

Post by Malestrom » Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:17 pm

This is a thankyou to those who have posted helpful posts and resources that I've used in submitting my application.
Invaluable in that there were some circumstances which if you believe some posters, would lead to refusal.

Applied from New Zealand.

Timeline:

Type of visa applied for: Fiancee Visa
Date application submitted: Online Jan 21, 2012
Date biometrics taken: Jan 24th, 2012
Date documents received at Auckland P.O. Box: Feb 2, 2012 (tracked)
Date documentation was received by UK Border Agency office: did not receive an email confirming this.
Date Approved: Feb 29th, 2012
Date Delivered: Mar 6th, 2012

Email as follows:
Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days. Applicants in Australia and New Zealand should allow 3 days before tracking their documents via the local post. UKBA-Manila Visa Hub]

Total processing/delivery time? 33 days (incl weekends and delivery times - up to 5 days there, 3 days back)

Plenty of lists available on this site for documents required.

However some things to consider:
I met my fiance in April 2012 whilst married to someone else.
Submitted Decree Nisi with application with explicit dates stating when Decree Absolute would be available. Also showed that there would be plenty of time to get married even if my ex did not apply for the decree herself.

My fiance and I submitted plenty of photos to show we had met, a letter from her parents offering financial support and endorsing the relationship, plus wedding dress receipts, etc.

Feel free to ask any questions about the process.
