In 2005 my US national wife and UK citizen me left the UK (where we were married in 2000) for the USA for what was intended to be a temporary 2 year stay. 6.5 years later, we have been back to the UK 3 times and each time she has been waved through on her ILR visa. We have kept our house in the UK and never stopped thinking of the Uk as 'home' in the permanent . On May 1 we are flying back to settle permanently in the UK, with our two kids under 3 years old. (One has a British passport, the other does not yet).
I understand that we might be asked to demonstrate our intention to settle permanently, given that we have been overseas for relatively long periods whilst on her ILR visa. I would be really grateful if anyone could offer any perspectives on:
i. the extent to which we might be pressed on our settlement plans; and
ii. if so, whether anything might be usefully added to the following list to have to present: Land Registry copies re the house we own and will live in; bank statements from UK accounts; evidence of arrangements with international movers.
Thanks v much in advance for any help.
