T1G Dependent - Main appl and dep both outside UK

Post by dhalok » Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:13 am

Hello All, we are kind of in a weird situation. My spouse (main appl) and me dependent are both currently outside UK. My spouse was earlier in UK and has the required maintenance funds in her UK bank account.
I want to apply for a dependent T1G visa outside UK. Both me and my spouse plan to travel to UK after I get the dependent visa.
The dependent form asks several questions about main applicants job in UK which I am confused about.
a) 7.14, what job is the main applicant doing in UK?
- My spouse is currently working outside UK with her T1G still valid. Is it ok to mention that main applicant is working outside UK?
b) 7.16 name and add of main appl company.
- Is it ok to mention address of main applicants current employer even if it is outside UK?

If anyone has been in similar situation and can share their experience it would be really helpful. Thank you!

Thank you Luca..

However, I am afraid that leaving it blank would cause problems. I am more leaning toward providing the current employers address and provide an explanation stating the facts in the 'additional information' section.
Do you think this is a good idea?

If anyone else has experienced a similar situation & have had success, please advice.

Yours is not a weird situation but a common one. If you wish you can include a covering letter to explain main applicants work situation but leaving the section as BLANK would do no harm.
The purpose of maintenance fund is to ensure that applicants can support themselves (and dependants) without any recourse to public fund. So employment in the UK is not mandatory.
