Dependent or Tier 2 - which is preferable for ILR

Post by bjbatra » Tue Mar 06, 2012 12:38 pm

I am on a Tier 2 visa since September 2009, and my wife has been working on a Tier-2 dependent visa since January 2012.

She has now got a job where it might be possible for her to get a separate Tier 2 visa (of course, she could also continue working on a dependent visa).

We are not yet certain that we want to apply for ILR... but thinking ahead, I want to know whether it would help/ harm for her to get an independent Tier 2 visa for purposes of ILR or just continue on a dependent visa.

Also, is there any other advantage to her getting a Tier 2 visa? Please do advise.
