Tier1 Extension 12 month salary query

Post by msathish » Tue Mar 06, 2012 1:27 pm

Hi,
I am planning to apply for Tier1 extension in July'12 with my visa expiring in Sep'12. I started work in UK on 15May'11 but I didnt get the first salary in May as the payroll processing cut off date passed by then. so May month salary with June'11 was put in my account at the end of June'11.

If I account for the salary from June'11 to May'12 which is 12 calender months, Is that fine? This gives me added advantage as I get added income credited into my account. June month payslip has nothing mentioned over it as May+June salary but it mentions the month as "2" as its the second month of employment.
If UKBA considers salary credits within 12 month period only, then its a valid point but I am not sure how this will be treated. Any idea?

Thanks
Sathish.

Well, you may get away with it, but if UKBA spots that, in essence you would have claimed points for 13 months, where as you are only allowed 12 months. This would be deception!
I have the similar case as you and going for extension in 10 days time. I am using two different employer and my first employer who i joined around the end of month paid me on the following month. Saying that, in my salary it clearly mentions the "BACK PAY" for previous months earnings. In any case, if I were you, I would not take chance.

Are you getting enough points without the May salary?

I would exclude the May salary from gross salary calculation and explain by a covering letter.

Thanks both of you for your replies.
I am falling short of earnings w.r.t points for renewal.
I wish to include May salary as well but if it makes things obvious, then I would abstain from doing it. Instead I will try to factor in more from self employment salary.
Is it better to add in more hours working part time and get paid before 5 april'12 so that it gets accounted for tax payment by this year itself (or) does UKBA believe in accountant statement saying parttime payments after 5Apr'12 will get taxed next year. I think getting as much before Apr'12 will be added adv. as we have tax paid receipt as well as proof.

Thanks again for spending time in replying my query.

getting paid before or after 5th april doesnt matter. all you need to do is count the 12 month period. do the taxes whenever they are due in whichever financial year.
