Advice needed-Work Permit to Spouse Visa

I have a quick question, please advise.

My partner is a UK citizen & I'm not. I'm currently here on a 2 year work permit -expiring in August 2007.
We have just decided to get married & would like to do so within a time limit that poses the least problems.
We've been informed about the CoA and are currently about to apply for that but what next & also, what time frames please?
