child born in uk new indian passport

Post by saisworld » Wed Mar 07, 2012 10:22 pm

Hello,

I hold Indian passport and recently been blessed with baby girl. I have applied for Indian passport at high commission London for my daughter via post on14 Feb 2012. Its been 3 weeks and till now no confirmation or reply from high commission . I sent email and yet no reply. When I called them they are asking me to send email and not to call. Somehow I got hold of one person on phone at high commission and narrated my concern she said there is no information about my daughter in their system so its not processed. And asked me to check with consular section .when I called consular section they said no pending applications at their side .

Now am in dilema on what to do. Did anyone apply recently for new passport for their son / daughter. If so how long did it take to receive passport?

Thanks in advance
Sai

Hi,
I had recently applied for my son's passport at indian high commission but I submitted the application in person and then collected it on the day advised by them while submission. The whole process was 10 days in total.Did you sent your documents by recorded/registeres post?

Hi ,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I sent via recorded next day delivery. I think I learnt a lesson never send applications via post to Indian embassy. Always do it in person.

Indian Passport

I wish applying in person was free from hassles as well but it is not.At the time of submission of documents they just say that collect the documents on specified date between specified time slot. However what they don't tell anyone is that they will not give a child passport/adult passport to anyone other that the applicant unless you have written permission.
Hope they had common sense to atleast put up a notice regarding this somewhere to avoid inconvenience to so many people who return empty handed from there every day
