Form MN1 for child born outside uk

Post by ugg-07 » Fri Mar 09, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi There,

I will be applying for naturalized British Citizenship in July 2012, but I was wondering about my daughter [7years] who lives with me here in UK ,but might be outside UK in July, I have got few queries on this matter and will really appreciate your help.

01 : Can I still apply for my daughter [form MN1] with my form AN even though she is not present at the time of application ?
02: What if I will get citizenship and if I apply for my daughter later on and if She is more than 90 outside UK during last 12 months ? will she get citizenship based on Father ? she needs to be in UK 90 days in last 12 months ?
03: Is there any chance we can apply for British Citizenship from outside UK ? [ if all other conditions are fulfilled ]

Thanks

GG

No. Need to apply where the child is. For children not born in the UK, the HO would expect them to be in the UK.

There is no residential requirements for children under 13 years. She can be out from the UK for more than 90 days. However, for applications for children born outside the UK, the HO would expect the child to show some connection to the UK and that her future lies in the UK.

There is no problem applying later on. She doesn't need to apply at the same time you apply.

Does the mother has ILR? The HO would expect the other parent to be settled in the UK as well.

Very slim chance as you will likely not meet the future intention requirement.
