Post by anjum786mohammed » Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:22 pm

Hi
Just got a quick question. If someone is currently on a student visa in Sweden (Pakistani National) and wants to come to the UK on the Settlement Visa, Wife and Kids in the UK, do they need to apply from pakistan or Sweden.

I would say Pakistan because the British Embassy in Pakistan would understand and identify original certificates much more easily then in a foreign country.

Why would the Entry Clearance Officer at the VAC in Pakistan have any greater understanding of documents ?? :?
However, it's correct that you can only apply for Settlement in your own country as you only have 'temporary' residence as a student in Sweden.

Well how could you know that a certificate was genuine if it's foreign. But people who live in that country would be able to identify it as a genuine document since they would have seen them often. That is just my opinion on why it's better to apply from the country of origin.
