Bring brother to UK to work and settle - anything possible?

Post by rayb » Tue Mar 13, 2012 8:51 am

Hi. I have recently acquired British citizenship and need to bring my younger brother to UK. He has no future at home, but very bright boy. He has a Degree as English/Russian Translator and 5 years of work experience in Oil & Gas industry as Document Controller. If he had a right to work in the UK, he would get a well paid job here within a month with his CV and I would help him with initial adaptation/costs. Now the questions:

1. I tried to read ukba on points based tiers, but it has changed - tier 1 is closed for outside of UK applications? is it permanent?
2. Tier 2 is same as old work permit, I can try and get him a permit sponsored by the company I work for but chances are slim.
3. I even looked into bringing him in as dependant family member under compassionate circumstances but I am not sure that this route will allow him to work? I have income 75K and can sponsor him but again, chances are very slim here as well as I gave him sums of money may be once a year, but not regularly.

Can anyone please help me with finding a legitimate route for him to come to UK, work and settle?

Unless he is living in extreme compassionate circumstances (chronic illness, indigent, no local family support) there is no possibility for you to sponsor his settlement in the UK. Even if you do send him money (regularly or sporadically), he is fit, well-educated, and able to work. The UK does not permit chain migration in such circumstances.

Yes I know.

Is there possibility in points based system for him? Is Tier 1 General closed or replaced or suspended?

Hi

I also in almost similar situation as you are but my brother is younger than yours.

There are very limited options now for immigration to UK. If you earn 75K and maybe also you or your brother have some investments, why not use Entrepreneur route?

And if your brother find a partner who has 100K, you will only need to put 100K. If you don't have this money right now, maybe your brother could come in advance and study in UK to get degree which would help him find job faster. There are good courses for oil and gas industry in Scotland or it could be business course in business school.

Entrepreneur is not cheap but there are not many other routes left. I think Entrepreneur may become more expensive pretty soon.

Does your brother enthusiastic about immigrating to UK? Is he from Russia? Udachi
