Stamping of Dependant visa in UK

Post by Simple man » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:20 am

Hi All,

I am in a bit of worry with my wifes visa extension, and so would like to get your advice on the below mentioned situation

Actually i came to UK on a Tier 2 ICT visa last year. When i apllied for the Tier 2 ICT visa i also applied for the dependant visa and got the same. But before we travelled to UK my wife got sponsership from her company and she got a seperate Tier 2 ICT visa on her passport and she traveled to UK with that visa. As a result the Dependant visa was not stamped.

Now as my Tier 2 ICT visa was expiring, my sponsor was ready to extend it and so i have applied for the same. Along with my visa extension i applied for the extension of my wifes dependant visa as well even though it was not stamped (this is because her tier 2 ict visa is expiring by mid april 2012 and it cannot be extended).

Now i wanted to know.
1. whether my wife will be granted an extension on the dependant visa

2. If we get the dependant visa extended then does she have to travel out of the country once to get the visa stamped or can it be done here itself.

3. Can she stay in UK after her stamped tier 2 ict visa expires by mid april, since we have submitted our passport to the UK immigration for the extension we dont have the passport with us and so she cannot travel. we can see that the latest date for biometric scan that can be blocked is only in May and so she wont be in a position to travel before the current stamped visa expires.

4. Will her case for dependant visa extension be rejected in any case.

Your advice in that matter will be really helpful.

She can't switch her Tier 2 (ICT) status to dependant status from inside the UK. She will need to apply for this in her home country. If she has already applied (which you seem to indicate) it will be refused.

Hi Lucapooka,

Thanks for your reply, she had a dependant visa in her passport but not stamped when she entered UK, will that not be considered at all.

We were thinking that she might get the dependant visa extended but it can only be valid when it is stamped once she leaves and renenters UK again. Please correct me if i am wrong.

That visa was cancelled when she was granted Tier 2 (ICT). You can't hold two types of leave valid at the same time.
