PEO Solihull - Successful Experience

Post by rakeysh.patel » Tue Mar 13, 2012 4:34 pm

Okay - Some good news to share. Before that, thanks to everyone who responded to some of my stupid questions and some informative advice.

Appointment - 09.30am - Solihull PEO
Arrived 0900 hrs

At the arrival - First thing told was "System is crashed and we do not know when we will be up and running. So it may be a long before you're served!!!"

At the entrance, application form checked (very briefly) and proceed for the security check etc and than wait begins !!

Finally at 11am we were called for interview.
Documents Asked (in order)/Submitted (in order):
Application form - Main Applicant
Application form - Dependent Applicant
Payslips - 11 (for past 11 months covering for 11 months and 2 weeks, explained below)
Bank Statements - 12 (Monthly)
Cover Letter HERE Followed by Table of contents and Individual page explaining points claimed (Available on the same link above)
Point based calculator print out
Original degree certificate
Marriage Certificate

Here is some information around form -

To start with - FPN - I had 3 points and £60 fine on my drivers license. I had NOT DECLARED this on the form
I claimed income as employed from 2 different Employers.
Dates mentioned individually on the form
Employer 1 had salary date of 15th Of each month and I had my first month (March 11) salary credited in the following month (April 2011). THIS WAS CONSIDERED. This employment was ended on 30/11/2011 and last salary credited (for unused paid holidays etc) on 15/12/2011. No Explanation provided in covering letter.
Employer 2 - Joined 3/1/12 and salary date is 20th of each month.
Total period claimed -
Employer 1 - 21/3/11 - 30/11/11
Employer 2 - 3/1/12 - 28/2/12

Here is how process went -

At 11, asked to go to Counter 3. Documents asked by CW exactly in above order. CW looked through the paper work, since system was down, she took the bunch and went away. Returned after brief (12-15 mins) time and raised 1 question -

You have mentioned that your claiming from 21/3/11 - Where is your March Salary. I responded - My employment as verifiable on Employment contract started on 21/3/11 but I had missed the payroll for that month and hence paid with April Salary, marked as "Back Pay". CW - Okay, thank you.

I am happy with the documentation and happy to approve the application. Please move to the last counter and pay the fees. Paid £1950 (both the payment pages contained my credit card details and signed by myself) with chip and pin. (It is always advised to let your CC company or Bank know in advance of such high value transactions)

After the payment, we were advised to wait in reception area again to be called for our bio-metrics. I had visa stamped on my passport for first T1 G Visa (3 years). Bio-metrics submitted, and staff asked us to come back after one hour or so to collect the documents. Popped out at about 12.15pm, had Extra hot Nando's Chicken burger with peri peri chips (yum yum :) ). Went back at 1.15pm and documents were ready to be collected at the reception. Letter confirming visa being approved handed over and told BRP should arrive in no later than 7 working days.

That is all.

Happy to take any questions anyone has, be it form related or documents related.

Thank you all

God Bless,
R

Hiya mate,

First of all Congratulations for your approval..

I have got a question, if you don't mind me asking. I have read lot of this experiences at PEOs as I am planning to apply in person for my extension application.

As you mentioned, the CW checked your documents, then made a decision that he/she is going to approve it and then ask you to pay your fees. This is the bit that confuses me. Isn't it a general practice to take the fees first and then have the interview with the CW. Correct me if I am wrong.

Logically it should be the correct procedure. But in my case, (at least the posters in PEO office explained the same procedure) Interview happened before. Posters explained -

Security Check
Interview
Payment
Biometrics
Finish !!

This is great stuff. This means, you get a chance to correct yourself incase you make a mistake, before wasting so much money. I have got 3 dependants. I would rather know my result before spending 1800+900+900+900{new fees from April 2012}, than after. Thanks again for this valuable information. I would try and book an appointment at Birmingham PEO.

Ideally this should be their approach to have the interview first and then ask the applicant to pay the fee after. Unfortunately there is no consistency in their practices.

As per my understanding, if the poster in Solihull PEO suggest this steps, then it should be a general guideline for all PEOs.

As shahjee11 has correctly mentioned that its not a consistant practice and you can see that in so many cases on this forum. I can understand the technological failures at PEOs as their system is not coping with the work load. But failing to follow a simple step by step procedure is beyond me.

If you ask me, its morally correct to interview first and than take the fees, since, ukba don't do refunds.

It should indeed. I have not been to any other PEO and can't comment for that reasons.
