Tier 1 Extension but Passport dependency

Post by Anukul » Wed Mar 14, 2012 3:52 pm

Hi,

I am due to apply for HSMP tier1 extension. However, my passport is valid for the next 1 year 7 months only.

Does this mean that I will be granted and extension for 1 year 7 months only as opposed to getting an extension for a complete 2 years??

If yes - then what would I need to do for the remaining 5 months so as to complete 5 years of UK Residency before I can actually apply for ILR or PR?

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Anubhuti

Apply normally as you have a valid passport. Once you get the extension, apply for a new passport (the extension is not stamped on passport as you are give a BRP instead) at least 6 months prior to the expiry of your current passport.
