Lost passport

Hi,

I lost my passport while I was touring Rome, Italy which had a Tier-2 ICT visa on it. For my return to UK, I got an emergency passport issued by Indian embassy with 6-months validity. Now, I need to go back to my home country early next month and return in a matter of 10 days.

Question :
1> Can I apply for replacement visa via TOC on my EMERGENCY passport which now has less than 6 months validity?

2> Is there any other alternative so that I can go back to India and return without any issues.

Also, I am aware of the time it'll take to issue a normal passport with 10 years validity. I have been trying to contact the embassy for details but got no replies. If someone has done it recently can you please share the details to go about it?
