Need help, how to get passport back from home office?

Need help, how to get passport back from home office?

I have British passport, I call to home office on 21th feb 2012 to return my passport, need for travel (business reason)
Home office say you need to wait for 15th working days
After 15th working days I call them they say wait for few more days

I have send my British passport with my wife application for ILR on 26th Jan 2012
Now I need to travel urgency
