Employment Letter without SOC Code

Post by 2013 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:50 pm

This is with reference to employment letter. My employer is not inclined to mention SOC code. They have standard format which says employee is working from start date. His salary is "......."

Can I use this letter in my ILR application which does not mention SOC code.

Hi 2013,

In my opinion you can't use that letter because on the application form its clearly mentioned under sec 11B that
" A document from the employer named in your current work permit containing the following information:
- confirmation that you are still required for the employment in
question, and
- the nearest applicable Standard Occupational Classification (SOC)
code which best describes your employment
- Your current rate of pay (this should be given in the same format as
given in the codes of practice, for example hourly rate or yearly
salary), and
- confirmation that this is at or above the appropriate rate for the job
as stated in the codes of practice for Tier 2 sponsors. "

Hope this will help. Why dont you show the application form and requirement to your employer? he might help you.

All the best
BR
