Question related to passport expiry

I have a query regarding an application for further leave to remain in Tier 2. I would be applying for the extension as my current leave is expiring on 14-Apr-2012 and the duration of further extension is two years, but my passport is due to expire on 09-Sep-2012. I wanted to know whether I can apply with this passport

Yes, you can. I was in the same situation last year as my visa was near expiry date and my passport was 3 months aways from expiry. First, I got my visa renewed and after visa renewal I sent my passport for renewal.
