Post by Rogerf12 » Thu Mar 22, 2012 12:55 pm

Hello, I currently hold b1/b2 visa that was issued to me in year 2008 by my then company.I have travelled to US 3 times before on business. My question is can I use the visa, which is valid for another 6 years, now to travel for pleasure, family visit? Could there be any issues at all, I am currently unemployed and plan a quick vacation.thanks

Yes, B2 is for tourism. However, you may need to show that you satisfy the visitor requirements on arrival.

To determine whether you should apply for B1 or B2, consider the nature of your planned trip. If it is recreational, such as visiting family members, tourism, amusement, or receiving medical treatment, a B2 visa would be more appropriate. If the purpose of your travel is to attend business meetings or scientific conferences, negotiate a contract, settle an estate, etc., you should apply for a B1 visa.

Note that B1/B2 is already in hand
