Acknowledgement Letter. Surname incorrect

Post by abby92 » Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:21 pm

Hello all

I have received my acknowledgement letter today and I have noticed that my surname is spellt incorrectly. Its just one letter incorrectly spellt rest is fine.

I wonder will they do the same mistake on the biometric invitation letter?

Do I need to contact them and let them know before it is repeated again or should I wait for them to correct it themselves?

Any advise will be highly appreciated. Did someone else encounter the same problem? share your experience please.

Better scramble a letter quoting the ref number, hope thats correct, or they may put the incorrect name on biometric too, leading to endless delays

Not too sure if writing a letter will really help. But indeed it is an option and thanks for that. Any further advice gurus, seniors please? Should I phone/ write to them or wait for the biometric letter with a hope that it will be picked up and corrected by themselves?

I am more inclined towards waiting for them to pick this error and correct it in the biometrics letter. I dont personally think that phoning or writing can play the trick because people on the phone do not sound to be competent enough.

Thanks Shahjee11. I took your advice and instead of phoning or writing to them, I waited for the BRP letter. It arrived yesterday and everything was fine there. No issues. I personally think that acknowledgement letters are issued from the payments/initial checks team who are not the caseworking teams.
