Hello there,
1. Is it mandatory to Submit "Marriage certificate" along with settlement visa application ?
we have just realised that my wife name on marriage certificate is her maiden name which is different from the name on Passport ( First name is different to maiden first name + Married surname).
ex: maiden name : Miss. Paula gittins
married name : Mrs. Caroline Kumar
Husband name : Mr Raj Kumar
when we applied for a passport with a name " Mrs. Caroline Kumar "
the authoruty did not ask for the name change certificate and they issued with the name specified on passport application.
****** I feel UK Visa issue authority may object because of this inconsistency of names on marriage certificate and passport.
Please advice.

Yes, Marriage Certificate is absolutely essential for Settlement Cases.
There is no need to worry about this thing; obviously ppl change their name after marriage. If you have more evidence of her maiden name; attach with your application.
And You must clarify in your covering letter; maiden and married names.
After taking Advice; remember Everyone's application, and thus supporting documents, will be different depending on personal circumstances.

Hi Casa , Gregarious,
Thanks for your reply...
But in my case the First name is also different on both marriage certifcate and Passport. However she got married surname on passport.
Would you think there won't be any issue with it , as we do not have any official certificate regarding change in her First name ?
Please advice.
Best Regards

Why was the first name (what is generally known here as the christian name) changed?

At the moment we don't appear to know why the first name differed.

At the time of marriage we have changed her first name based on Astrology factor suggested by our priest.

You just explain your reason in your covering letter along with other relevant evidences.

My fiance has 3 christian names but is know by her middle name which appears on her passport. She gets affidavits done whenever she needs to prove why she is called by her middle name on her passport.

Sorry she is a Irish and British Citizen carrying both passports, already settled in the UK. She was asked why only her middle name is used and had to do affidavits as proof when she obtained her British passport. Also all her utility bills and bank statements all appear with her middle name.

@ Diesel did very well.
1. You must clarify your reason in your covering letter.
2. Provide an affidavit with concerned to her name; and mention it that "If I am wrong, He/she will be liable for any loss."
