Applying for EEA Family Permit in Spain.

Hey guys,

How can a non-EEA obtain their Family Permit in Spain? They were trying to do it on-line, but couldn't book the appointment.

Any insights?

After filling the online EEA FP form then you need to pay online too for just the postage about €14 or so then you can now go to appointment page, best of luck mate.

They were prompted to make the on-line payment, but there wasn't any option on the screen/window to do it. How do they go about it?

Ours worked fine including 14 euro payment - re appointment make sure you do this around 8 am or you may find there are either no appointments at all or none for a couple of months. If you do it early morning you can find appointments for in just a few days time.

We have our appointment to hand in documents this coming Monday morning. We are so nervous now...

It just good morning and morning to you, you will receive your passport within 14days but normally you get it 2 to 4days, best of luck mate.

Passport return times will depend on caseload and case complexity. Past performance is not a guide to the future. If it goes over 15 days by all means complain.

Thank you for your input. My friend's application is pretty much straight, and I don't quite foresee any major issues.

UKBA claims they intend to issue EEA FPs on the same day as the application if possible. It is the only type of visa that receives priority treatment that I am aware of.

Interesting...where do they say that though? My personal experience is that it can take a lot longer than that.

I had a look, but did not see the reference to same day issue if possible.

EEA family permits are meant to be dealt with an a priority basis, but that's not my fairly recent experience (within the last 12 months) - took three weeks.

I wonder if what's written in guidance and what happens in practice different?

My friend's wife had her appointment today in Madrid. Biometrics were taken and supporting documents received.

She was informed that applications are being dealt within 15 business days, and due to the holidays, her application won't be looked at until next week.

OK, I was aware of that guidance. I know from experience that EEA family permits are not issued as quickly as one might hope.

That said, there are expedited visas available for a fee to visa nationals who meet certain conditions; they are given real priority. These are not available to family members under the 2006 regs.

That's a pretty standard timeline and is in line with their internal targets for issuing visas (of any category, save settlement).

Please note the examples above do not apply to EEA family permits. The point I was trying to make is that there is an expedited service for non EU route visas. Therefore, it is possible for visas to be issued quickly if one puts one's mind to it.
