eea3 application

Post by umzyi » Fri Mar 30, 2012 3:34 am

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can give me an adice over my situation.

I came from Latvia in 2008 to study in the university. After my 4 year degree i continued with the masters on which i am half way through. By september i would be finished and would have completed my 5 years stay in the uk as an eea member.

In 2009, i applied for work registration scheme as i wanted to work for tesco's part time and in the summer holidays along with the studies.

until today after reading this forum i had no idea of medical insurance and eea1 and i dont have either of them. i only have my work registration certificate which was granted in 2009.

Where do i stand now?

I would really appreciate if someone can tell me how can i apply for permanent residence after i have completed my 5 years? and what do i need to do?

I would be very greatful for any help.

Natasha

I have actually checked with my parents that i do have insurance. They bought health insurance when i came to uk, so i have been coverd all these years.

Now can i apply for PR under a student category while knowing that i dont have a registration certifictae only the woker registration scheme letter?

Thanks

You don't need to have applied for a registration certificate to have qualified for PR.

Here's a little complication though. The UKBA did not fully enforce the requirement of students to have had CSI (insurance) until recently. They are more strict now. What they say is that anyone who applied for a residence certificate without CSI and received one, doesn't need it, but anyone who didn't apply does. I hope this make sense. I would suggest that this is unfair to refuse anyone who was a student before they changed their policy and may be open to challenge.

You state that you have insurance so it would not apply to you anyway.
