Can my child travel using indian passport after getting BC

Post by jack_seth » Fri Mar 30, 2012 10:12 pm

My child born in UK 3 years ago and currently she has Indian passport and Tier1 dependent visa. I am going to apply for ILR in May 1st week. I am planning to apply ILR only for myself & my wife and child will get BC using MN1 form. I hope my child will get the British passport in July 1st or 2nd week. We are planning to travel to india in August. Can my child use indian passport to enter into india and leave back to UK using British passport? Due to time constraint I can't surrender her indian passport and get OCI or VISA with in 2 weeks time. Please let me know whether will it make any problems and share your experience if you had any similar situation.

Why don't you get your trip to India over and done with and then sort out the child's British passport? What's the rush?

I hope he can not come back with his Tier1 dependent since it will be expired after we applied our ILR.

Please confirm whether he can come back using existing Tier1 FLR after we got our ILR.

I understand your problem now. Apparently, there is a three month grace period for Indians after acquiring new citizenship. Perhaps you could sort child's PIO in local FCCO after you get to India, don't know if you can, but you could look into it.
