Biometric - barcode not scanned

Post by samindaksm » Sat Mar 31, 2012 1:38 am

hi guys,

I sent my psw application via post on 2nd of March 2012 and has delivered on 3rd of March 2012. Received the acknowledgement on 15th March 2012, letter dated on 13th March 2012. And received the biometric invitation on 30th March 2012, letter dated 27th March 2012. Everything was fine..
I went to the post office yesterday (30th March 2012) to give the biometrics and the officer who was in the counter said that the barcode in my letter is not readable and he is unable to do it. On my request, he tried few times, but didn't work. Then he asked me to contact UKBA and said they will send another letter with a new barcode. Once I got off from the post office, I phoned UKBA and informed about this. The lady spoked with me said that if the barcode is not readable, I'll have to book an appointment for a PEO to give the biometrics. :( I tried to book an appointment, all the recent appointments are gone and I'll have to get one at Cardiff PEO, even that is on 12th of April. Finally I booked appointment at cardiff office. Appointments are available on recent days only in Glasgow office, which is going to be 9+ hours journey from London where I live :( I've got few questions as well with this.
1) In the letter says, I have give the biometrics within 15 working days of the date of the letter. Is saturday concerned as a working day according to the UKBA ?
2) Won't they issue a new letter with the barcode if I contacted some other agent in the UKBA. Anyone had this problem and if got a new letter, how long does it take usually ?
3) Any advice different for what I've decided to do..

No in europe/and most places in the world working days are Mon-Fri

they should be able to send you a new letter , the 15 days start from the date on the letter

i would ask for a fresh Biometrics letter and go to the post office again

in any case you don't need to have your appointment within 15 days, you just need to make sure you book it within 15 days (that actual appointment can be after that)
