ILR dependant from Tier-1 General

Post by mkanagar » Mon Apr 02, 2012 10:35 am

Hi,
My wife got her ILR last week.
I am on Tier-1 General.
And after an year, i complete 5 years and i can apply for ILR myself.

Since my wife had already got ILR, I am wondering if i can become her dependant? Is it any good? Please let me know. Thanks.

If i am applying, Can i apply from within the uk or i have to go back to india and apply?
When i apply as dependant, will i get ILR or a temporary visa?
If i get temporary visa, should i extend it or i can get ILR when it expires?
When i extend, should we provide documents like my wife's payslips etc.?
Asking this to understand if she need to work when i apply for extension?

Thanks,
Mahesh

Yes, but you'll be facing two years in that category before you are eligible for ILR. It's only worth considering if you know for sure you won't get ILR independently. You can always use this route if you fail ILR under your current status but perhaps in a year the two year requirement will have been extended. So, only you can decide what is best for your situation.

You can switch from inside the UK.
