wife on tourist visa

Post by lezzfrancis » Tue Apr 03, 2012 8:08 pm

Hi,

My tier-1 is up for extension within 2-3 months of marriage. So it doesnt make any sense applying for dependent visa as by the time she'll get the dependent visa, it would have expired.

We are planning that she will come to UK on a tourist visa and then once my extension is complete , she will go back to India to apply for the dependent visa.

Please let us know if there's a better solution.

She is not mentioning in the visa application for tourist visa that she will be getting married. Would that be a problem when she applies for the dependent visa?

Any help is appreciated please.

It's not something that is on the application form so you don't have to declare what is not asked (assuming you mean getting married in India some time in the future). She will be making a general visit application to visit her boyfriend and will need to show how she can maintain herself and her ties to homeland. Family visit rights and requirements do not apply.

If she intends to marry in the UK, the she should apply for a Marriage / civil partnership visit visa.
