UK Visa for baby

Post by SBkulkarni » Wed Apr 04, 2012 9:53 pm

Hi,
I am working in UK with Valid Work Permit issued in 2008 (non point based). My Visa is valid until 2013. Recently I am blessed with baby. I have obtained her Indian Passport. Baby is in UK living with me. I have to apply for UK visa for my baby. Could you please guide me on obtaining visa. I got to know that I have to fill up FLR(O) form but there is no option to apply only for dependent. I have visa until 2013 so I don't have to apply with baby. Also fee is not clearly given for dependent. On FLR(O) form section 3 Category is not clear for Work Permit holders. I need your help urgently as I am planning for India trip. Also it would be helpful to know the visa processing time if I apply by post.

From the list of relevant categories on the front page of the form:

Dependant of a person who has limited leave to enter or remain in the UK other than under the points based system

Are you suggesting that your child is not dependant on you? If he/she is part of your nuclear family then that is the definition of a dependant.

The child is applying as a single applicant ie. not applying with other dependants.

If you are a single applicant on form FLR(O) and no dependants are applying with you, there is a fee of £550 for applications made by post, or £850 for premium service applications made in person at our Public Enquiry Offices

Child is dependent on me but in the form there is Categogy to select only Dependent. I am not applying for visa extension. Do you suggest selecting 'Single applicant - no dependants' - 550 GBP for my baby application.

Perfect. Now I got all the information required for application. Last question about processing time. Do you know average processing time for UK visa for Baby if I apply in UK via post? I am planning India trip in June.
