ILR for civil partners

Post by rclarke » Fri Apr 06, 2012 9:29 am

I've been together with my current partner for 2 years now. I have ILR myself. My partner and I are planning to get a civil partnership soon. If he then applies for settlement, as a civil partner of a settled person, will the fact that we have been living together only for around a year be a problem? Although we have been together for 2 years, we only moved in together a year ago. The UKBA website seemed a bit unclear so I thought I'd ask.

You need to have lived together in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for two years.

not if they are going to have a civil partnership - assuming they are a same gender couple.

Thank you. I overlooked this! Correction: if you are intending to contract a civil partnership the 2 year relationship is not required. My response was directed towards an application to enter or remain as an unmarried partner.
