Overstaying student visa and spouse visa application

Post by cityflyer » Sat Apr 07, 2012 5:26 pm

Hi

Can anyone help?

My UK citizen friend has met a guy living in India and they are planning to marry later this year. They met in December 2011 but now she is back in London and he is still in India.

It has just transpired that last year he left the UK having overstayed on a UK student visa by 3 years!

My question is will this information preclude or prevent him obtaining a UK spouse visa?

Many thanks.

"It has just transpired " does not bode well for a genuine relationship ?
If your " friend " wants to pursue the relationship may need to ask a few more questions to prevent any more "transpiring " revelations
As you will see on here most people who have overstayed and can show they are in a genuine relationship will eventually get a visa if the overstay is the only issue
