Fiance Visa - Money required

Post by miss-ps » Sun Apr 08, 2012 1:47 am

Hello
Sorry if this has been addressed before. I would like t hear from people who have applied for fiance visa with no problems, especially on a tight budget.
I am UK based and my fiance is in Zambia. He has savings of £2000 and I have about £1200 per month. Accommodation is sorted and we have all the required documents but we are so scared the money we have is not enough and the application will be rejected based on that. I am self employed running a small business that has potential to grow and so there is the potential of work for him. Aside fom that we have a child together. He got advise from someone down there who said such visas need LARGE savings and big income to even be considered and what we have is too small(the advisor's father works in UK foreign office related work).
We are so scared to even go ahead now and so deflated, even disappointed before we try.
Has anyone ever had their visa approved(or heard of anyone) with funds like ours? Do you think what we have is too little and we risk disappointment if we try now.

*worried sick* :(

There is no need for big income and large savings but you do need to show you have at least the amount a family on income support would receive.

Do you have any other income for example from child benefit or tax credits?

How much do you pay in rent/mortgage and council tax each month?

Does the £1200 you earn include allowances for tax and national

That is the money I have before expenses and includes all the benefits. The house rent is about £475 per month. The applicant has a wealthy relative who can co-sponsor and write a letter saying they will be there for us in case this and that and show bank statements. But now we are not sure because apparently that will not be considered and only our money will be accessed.
Should I include my business forecasts? The business is online based and the clear increase in sales can be seen and we can be sure to have more than £1200 income in two/three months.

And the flat is a band A, when I applied for council tax I was awarded with full credit and so there is no council tax for the year(I have a letter to show this). The only expenses will be gas and electric which is about £40 per month(two bed flat),TV license and food, which still leaves some money in the account.
