Switching from tier 2 ICT dependant to tier 2 general

I am currently on tier 2 ICT long term staff dependant visa. Can I switch to tier 2general visa without having to bear the cooling off period.

Yes you can switch from PBS Dependant to Tier 2 General but not in-country, only from abroad. The cooling-off period will not apply in your case, it only applies to migrants.

Tier 2 ICT dependant can't switch to Tier 2 General. You will have to apply from outside UK for Tier 2 application and it will be subject to Restricted COS. An application made from outside UK is considered as "Entry Clearance" application rather than "Switch" application.

Agastya80, you are right of course. Apologies for the inprecise wording but I did say that Munmun can only "switch" from outside the UK and used the word in the colloquial sense (meaning "change") rather than as UKBA terminology.

What Munmun wanted to find out was whether his/her immigration status can be changed from PBS Dependant to T2 General migrant and if the cooling-off period applied. I think he/she got the answer.
