UK VISIT VISA APPLICATION (DURATION TO APPLY FOR?)

Hello Gurus,

My father was issued 6 months UK visit visa and his visa has just expired (my father is a Pakistani national). I intend to apply for a longer duration of visit visa now. I have Indefinite Leave to Remain in the U.K and therefore, was planning to apply for a 10 years visit visa for my father.
But I am not sure if this is the right thing to do or not and whether I should apply for 2 years, then 5 years and then eventually 10 years.
I will be very grateful for your advice/guidance.

How many times has he had a 6 months visa and visited the UK?

On his most recent visa, how long did he stay in the UK and how long did he put in the application form that he was going to visit the UK?

Thank you very much for the reply.
He has only had a 6 months visa once and it expired end of September this year.
In the application form, he mentioned that he will visit for 2 weeks.
On this 6 months visa, he has visited the U.K twice. The first time he stayed for 3 weeks and returned to Pakistan. After about 2.5 months, he visited the UK again for 10 weeks and returned within duration of his visa validity.

Will really appreciate your advice.

TBH there are no rules or restrictions from applying for 10 years visa. Heck, you could even do that with the very first visa application.
However, you have a lot of money to lose if it doesn't go well.

My advise would be to build your trust level with the UK over the years by moving from 6 months to 2 years, then you could decide to skip 5 and jump to 10 years if you please.

That sounds very sensible.
