Which visa is best for my sister?

Post by sk001 » Fri May 04, 2018 1:31 pm

Hi

I am trying to find out which visa my sister could come to UK on?

Background info:
My sister is 16 and is currently in school in South Africa - She is wanting to carry on schooling in England when she gets here.

My parents are both British Citizens by descent so she doesn't qualify for British citizenship.

She can get an Ancestral visa once she turns 18 - but what can she get to come her before then?
Initially she might need to come by herself and my parents would then follow.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks

Have either of your parents ever lived in the the UK in the past?

She can get an Ancestry visa when she is 17 years of age.

Ancestry is a work visa though and she must show intent to work when applying for it plus the funds of +/- R25,000 held for 3-6 months.

If she purely wants to attend school, likely a tier 4 child visa if an independent school offers her a place.

Hi CR001

No - neither of them have lived in the UK before but they are in the process of selling off/closing down their business and they will be moving over too.

Funds for the Ancestry visa won't be an issue and she will likely work as I think she will do A Levels when she gets here.

Can she get a Tier 4 Child Visa and come here and live with me whilst my parents are still in SA?

Alternatively, she should apply for child settlement visa or Indefinite leave to enter and return with your parents.
