Working after separation & returning on tourist visa

Post by ridgem » Sun Feb 07, 2021 10:53 am

Thank you in advance for any advice. My husband and I are struggling in our marriage and working with a counselor to decide what we want to do. I had a couple of questions about logistics if we decided to separate:

-After informing the home office, you are allowed to remain for 60 days I believe. Are you permitted to continue working during this time?
-If I left the UK after 60 days, could I return immediately on a tourist visa? I understand I would not be permitted to work or access healthcare, etc, but would I be allowed to enter like a normal tourist in order to say goodbye to friends, arrange for shipping of my belongings, etc?
-With curtailment, do I need to leave the UK for my "home country" or can I leave to any country and then return?
-Has COVID impacted curtailments at all? Perhaps allowing more time to depart?

Thank you very much for any advice with this difficult potential process. Much appreciated.

1. It is 60 days from the date your receive the letter from ukvi. Not 60 days from the date of informing ukvi

2. Probably difficult given you have lived here since 2013 and returning immediately after a visa curtailment. The view could be that you won't leave the UK or are trying to circumvent the immigration rules. You will have 60 days to sort all of your personal affairs out.

3. You simply need to leave the UK. Where you go is irrelevant.

4. No. You will still get 60 days.
