10 year partner route

Post by Alteo » Fri May 15, 2020 10:58 pm

Hello everyone and hope you are keeping well and safe from this madness.

I have few things I wanted to check before I make an application please

My partner was put on a 10 year route and her 1st visa is due to expire soon so I wanted to change it to a 5 year route one but I am a bit confused.

Can I switch from 10 year route to 5 year even if we are not legally married but live together and have a child

Does she need A1 or A2 English?

Has anyone done this type of application themselves without spending a fortune with a lawyer, if so it really difficult? Corona virus has killed my savings 😏

Thank you in advance

Yes as unmarried partner of settled person provided you have been living from the last 2 years in a relationship akin to marriage and free from all previous relationship/affairs with anyone else (if any). See below as how can it be demonstrated:

A1 and the income threshold of £18600 must be met

These might further descend after paying application & other miscellaneous fees.

Thank you very much for your reply.

We have been living together for 4 years and have all the relevant bills etc to provide

My income is also above their requirement so that’s fine

Can she do A2 instead of A1 so she doesn’t have to do it again after 2.5 years?

Yes she can do that but unfortunately all the test centres and ukvcas centres are closed which more likely will be reopened concurrently allowing you sufficient time in passing the test. However, in all cases you must submit your application before expiry.
