10 Year Route Visa Extension

I have found out that I can extend my stay for my 10 year route FLR online
Could someone please advise
As I was completing the information online, I got the point where it asked to make a payment of £1000 for the NHS to cover my next 30 months.
I can not go past this point until I make the payment. If I do, will I be required to make the payment for the VISA extension immediately after which is about £1065 or I will be asked to submit then wait for the request to make that payment at a later stage stage?
In addition, I am not using a solicitor this time around as I found the application to be straight forward in the terms of what is required. Will I be asked to post the required documents or I have to scan them and upload? Based on my previous extension the documents required are a lot which would be cumbersome.

All visa and IHS fees are paid online. You cannot submit if you do not pay.

Once you submit and pay, you will be directed to the UKCVAS Sopra Steria website to make and appointment for biometrics and document checks. You scan and upload all your documents, nothing gets posted to HO anymore.
