5 year visitor visa to the UK

Post by ustulation » Sun Nov 07, 2021 3:12 pm

I am an ILR holder and have a wife who is on PBS Dependant visa and a daughter who is a registered British Citizen.

I wish to call my mother and father, who are in India, over to visit us. I am planning to get each of them a 5 year visitor visa so that they can visit us every year for a few months.

This will be the 1st time they will travel anywhere internationally. They have very little savings and live in a joint family without home ownership.

However I will be completely sponsoring the trip and will take responsibility that no one in breach of immigration laws. I will also host them when they are here. For this I will provide a signed letter of consent with my BRP, contact details in the UK.

For funds, I will provide my Bank Statements.

Q1) Is this sufficient or do they have to provide their bank statements too which is very less as the mainly live off the interests from policies and bonds? Can they avoid giving their bank statements and fixed deposit statements?

The application says:

> Evidence of funds available to you, and which
are clearly accessible by you.

If I only provide my bank statements and the letter of consent, how do I supply the evidence of the above?

If they have no UK or international travel history, showing compliance with visitor visa rules, they are unlikely to get a 5 year visit visa.

Best to start from 6 months visit visa then progress to 2 then 5 years. You did not state if they had previous visit visas to the UK.

OK, thank you! Glad I asked lol. I will get them a 6mnth visa 1st then and later get them a longer term one.

In that case too, is it sufficient I provide my UK bank statements and not theirs as their's is quite paltry? Basically my (Q1) in the OP.

Only opinion...if they have bank account It is not the amount that matters, it is the evidence of financial status or monies coming in for them indicating ties to home country.
