Youth Mobility to FLR(IR)-Joining my spouse

Hi guys - sorry to hijack the thread, but Cman, I am in the exact same position as you right now (although I am the ancestry visa holder and my fiance will be converting to a dependent).

I had a few quick qs:

- is it right that I won't have to submit original documents proving my ancestry eligibility (i.e. three generations of birth certificates) - is it enough that I already have the visa? (checking as I'll have to get originals posted from Australia if they are needed).

- do I have to give up my passport while processing, or just my husband? We were hoping not to pay for same day service and just wait it out before he goes travelling again, but I may need to travel for work in the meantime.

- what is the current estimated waiting time if we don't pay for same day?

Not sure if needed, but wouldn't think so.

There is no longer a 'same day decision' service. The psc/peo centres have closed. You need to use the new UKCVAS service. Copies of your passport should be sufficient though if you apply by post.

It depends what option you choose online.

Just to add to CR001 when I was filling out my application I seen this page which can answer a couple of your questions.

From what I can tell neither of you send in your passport - you take it with you to the meeting and get it back once you are done there. As for not being able to travel while the decision is being processed I do not know - definitely for your husband but unsure about you.

I also do not believe you need to provide the birth certificates etc as when I filled in the application in the section it asks about docs it does not include this. I believe the section that gets filled in about the visa holder (BRP, passport and NI numbers) gives them enough information to go on.

No idea on the waiting time at the moment sorry.
