B1 Language Certificate Validty

Hello all hope you are well,

My wife gained her B1 when she done her spouse extension.

She got her certificate dated 17/02/23.

As this is the certificate that is also required for ILR, the idea was to submit the same certificate.

Her Visa runs out in October 2025, are we able to use the one she gained 17/02/23? Or does she need to re take the test?

Many Thanks

She can reuse the same for ILR.

Thank you Zimba

Just for clarity, the certificate was obtained from Trinity College London.

The reason I mentioned that is, it mentioned they only have a 2 year validity for UK immigration.

Many Thanks

Indefinite leave applications
The English language test must have been taken no more than 2 years before the
date of application. However, tests that have been taken more than 2 years ago and
have since expired can still be accepted where both of the following apply.

The qualification:

• is from one of the providers on the current SELT list
• has previously been accepted by us as part of another immigration application, such as for entry clearance

A qualification that is not from one of the providers on the current SELT list, is not acceptable even if previously accepted by us as part of another application

Hello all, hope you are well.

I would like to get myself prepared for the IRL application for my wife and just wanted to know if the below documents I am looking to submit are correct and if I am missing anything?

Wifes Residence Permit Card
Wifes Confirmation of Visa application payment
Wifes Declarations from application
Wifes Copy of photograph page of Passport
Wifes B1 Language Certificate (Use in last application spouse extension. certificate date 02/2023)
Wifes Life in the UK certificate
Wifes Cohabitation Documents (Does this need to be a minimum amount of different sources? I believe the Spouse extension was 3 different sources. Also how many should be submitted with a date gap of how long between each?)
My (Husbands) 6 Months bank statements
My (Husbands) Contract of Employment from when I started working at current Employer Feb 2022
My (Husbands) Driving licence
My (Husbands) 6 Months Payslips
My (Husbands) Confirmation from employer of my employment and that payslips are authentic
Marriage Certificate
My (Husbands) Title Deeds of property I own and we live in

Many Thanks

It seems you have it all covered. Not sure what is the point of sending a driving licence

Thanks Zimba

Just a quick question around Cohabitation Documents

Last time I sent, Council Tax, Water Bill, Energy Bill, Joint Banks Statement.

Is there a minimum amount of sources that I need to submit? I read somewhere 6?

Also Is there a recommended amount of documents i need to submit and the gap between each e.g 1 document 4 months apart from the last 2.5 years?

CAN I APPLY FOR ILR (M) NOW

Hello all hope you are well.

My wife arrived in the UK on a fiancée visa in March 2020. Her current FLR runs out 27/10/25. As she has been here for over 5 years are we able to apply for ILR now? Or is it 28 days before the FLR ends?

Many Thanks

Her visa expiry is irrelevant. She will be eligible only when she is within 28 days of completing her 60 months in the UK, under family route. Time spent under fiancée visa does NOT count :!:

Hello Zimba,

Thank you for your speedy response.

So that I am 100% clear. The 60 months starts from the day that the 1st Spouse Visa was issued?

Many thanks

Hello both,

I have just checked my wife’s original residence card from our first spouse visa and the date of issue on there says 15-10-2020. So I assume the earliest we can apply is 28 days prior to 15-10-2025?

Many Thanks

Thank you for the confirmation.

I had 2 other questions around the residence card. We need to upload a copy for the ILR application.

1. Do we need to upload both Spouse residence cards or just latest?

2. The latest residence card ran out 31/12/24 as they then went electronic. Do we only upload the physical card end date 31/12/24?

Many Thanks

The requirement to upload BRP is a legacy of the past.
All BRPs are now phased out and you do not need to upload an expired BRP copy at all

Information on eVisas as all BPRs are now phased out

Hello Zimba,

So is it a requirement now to upload a copy of your Evisa?

Many Thanks

No. You do not have any such requirement. The list is generic and often misleading/inaccurate. UKVI has all your data, they do not need you to upload what they show you in the first place :?

Hello all, hope you are well.

When I get the letter from my employer, do I need them to confirm that my payslips at true and authentic?

Many Thanks
